Barton Bridge Type 24 Pill box preserved. At the E end of Barton Bridge [a foot bridge] over the River Avon. Situated on a small island between the main bridge over the river (Bradford Tithe Barn Bridge) and a smaller bridge over a side stream of the river. This is one of 170 that made up a defensive line running from Freshford through Avoncliff to Reading. For much of its length it followed the Avon canal
